Frequently Asked Questions

Basic Service Questions

What does the mobile pre-purchase inspection include?
Our multi-point used car inspection is extremely thorough. It includes a test drive, pulling computer diagnostic codes, a complete engine compartment inspection, underside/chassis examination, tire/brake assessment, exterior condition, comfort systems checking, and more. Since we are 100% mobile, we coordinate directly with the seller or dealer and conduct the inspection without requiring your presence.
How long does it take?
Each inspection takes approximately one hour to complete. We deliver the full report, including video documentation, the same day as the inspection.
How much does it cost?
Buyer inspections are $225 (tax included). Seller inspections are $275 (tax included) and include a certificate with QR code for buyers to verify.
What is your service area?
Our standard mobile service area (Zone 1) includes vehicles within approximately 10 miles of downtown Spokane. Zone 2 (Liberty Lake, Mead/Colbert, Cheney) has a $50 additional charge. Zone 3 (Deer Park, Post Falls, Coeur d'Alene) has a $100 additional charge.
What diagnostic equipment do you use?
We use professional-grade diagnostic equipment to scan all vehicle computer systems. This allows us to identify any current or pending issues, even if warning lights aren't showing on the dashboard.
What won't the inspection tell me?
While our inspection is thorough, we can't predict future failures or identify issues that aren't showing symptoms at the time of inspection. We also can't verify accident history beyond visible evidence, though we do check carefully for signs of previous damage or repairs. In summary, although our inspection process is very comprehensive, we can only report what is observable at the time of inspection.
What if the vehicle is outside of the service area?
Since we are a mobile service, we are happy to meet you within any of our service zones to complete the inspection. If you are looking for an inspection outside of the Greater Spokane, WA (or Post Falls / Coeur d'Alene) region, apologies we do not service any other areas at this time.
Can I bring the vehicle inside of another zone (or service area)?
Absolutely! We are happy to meet you wherever it is most convenient within our service territory (with charges depending on zone).

Vehicle Types & Limitations

What types of vehicles can you inspect?
We inspect most passenger vehicles, including cars, SUVs, crossovers, and light-duty trucks within the last 20 years. Our service is best suited for typical consumer vehicles that make up the majority of the used car market.
Do you inspect exotic cars?
No, we typically do not inspect exotic vehicles (Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.). These vehicles require specialized diagnostic equipment and expertise that differs from standard vehicles. We recommend having exotic cars inspected by specialized shops that focus on these brands.
Do you inspect diesel trucks?
No, we typically do not currently inspect diesel trucks. These vehicles require specialized diagnostic equipment and testing procedures. We recommend having diesel trucks inspected by shops that specialize in diesel engines.
Can you inspect modified or classic cars?
We can inspect most modified and classic cars, but with some limitations. We'll assess overall condition and obvious issues, but heavily modified vehicles may require specialized knowledge beyond our standard inspection. For classic cars, we focus on current condition rather than restoration accuracy or historical authenticity.
What if I want an inspection for a classic, modified, exotic, non-OBD2, etc. vehicle?
Our expertise focuses on standard passenger vehicles under 20 years old. While we can still provide valuable inspection services for specialty vehicles, please understand these limitations: We CAN verify the vehicle exists and matches the listing, document overall condition with photos and video, check basic functionality (starts, runs, drives), identify obvious issues or damage, and provide peace of mind for out-of-area buyers. We CANNOT assess authenticity or originality of classic/collector vehicles, evaluate specialized systems unique to exotics or high-performance vehicles, diagnose diesel-specific components, collect vehicle data from non-OBD2 vehicles, verify matching numbers or restoration quality, or identify model-specific issues requiring specialized knowledge.
Do you inspect motorcycles or RVs?
No, we focus exclusively on passenger vehicles and light trucks. Motorcycles and RVs require different expertise and inspection criteria. We can recommend specialists for these types of vehicles.
What about certified pre-owned vehicles?
Yes, we can inspect certified pre-owned vehicles. In fact, this is often a very good idea since we have encountered 'certified pre-owned cars' that clearly were not examined as thoroughly as claimed. While these vehicles usually go through a dealer certification process, an independent inspection can provide additional peace of mind and potentially identify issues the certification process may have missed.

Location & Access

What if the car is at a dealer?
No problem! Our mobile service travels to wherever the car is in the Greater Spokane area. We work with dealers regularly, but you'll need to notify them about the inspection and confirm they're willing to make the vehicle available on the scheduled day/time. Before the inspection, we'll send the dealer our inspection consent form to formally document their approval.
What if it's a private-party sale?
Our inspection process works the same for private party sales. You'll need to inform the seller about the inspection and confirm they're willing to make the vehicle available on the scheduled day/time. We'll send them our inspection consent form to complete before the scheduled inspection date.
Do I need to arrange access to the vehicle?
Yes, it's your responsibility to notify the seller about the inspection and ensure they'll make the vehicle available at the scheduled time. We'll send them our inspection consent form to complete, but you should communicate with them about the inspection details.
Can you inspect cars listed on Facebook/Craigslist?
Yes, we regularly inspect vehicles from online listings. The same process applies – you'll need to coordinate with the seller and ensure they're willing to make the vehicle available at the scheduled time.
What about cars at small independent lots?
Yes, we work with businesses of all sizes. The same process applies as with other dealers – you'll need to coordinate access and ensure the vehicle will be available.
What if the seller won't allow an inspection?
Some sellers may decline to allow an inspection – that's their right, and we respect their decision through our consent form process. However, we recommend being very cautious about purchasing any vehicle where the seller refuses an independent inspection. We give sellers the opportunity to decline every inspection, and if we receive their decline of consent more than two hours before the booked inspection time we will cancel your appointment without penalty. If they decline less than two hours before your appointment, there will be a $50 unavailable vehicle fee charged.

Logistics & Scheduling

Do I need to be present for the inspection?
No, you don't need to be present. Once you've confirmed with the seller/dealer that the vehicle will be available, we handle the inspection independently and provide you with complete documentation including video.
How soon can I get an inspection?
Most inspections can be scheduled within 1-2 business days. You'll see all available time slots when booking through our online system.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
You can cancel or reschedule through our online booking system. Cancellations made two or more hours before the scheduled inspection time are free of charge. Cancellations with less than two hours' notice will incur a $50 cancellation fee. Appointments can only be rescheduled a maximum of two times.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We collect your credit card information at the time of booking, but you won't be charged until after the inspection is completed. We accept all major credit cards through our secure payment system.
What if it's raining/snowing on inspection day?
Light rain won't affect our ability to perform a thorough inspection. However, for safety reasons, we do not perform inspections in snowy conditions. If there is snow or other severe weather, we will attempt to reschedule the appointment with the seller. Remember, appointments can only be rescheduled a maximum of two times.

Results & Reporting

How soon do I get the results?
You'll receive your complete inspection results, including the video report and documentation, the same day as your inspection. Most reports are delivered within a few hours of the inspection completion.
Can I share the video with others?
Yes, you can share your inspection video and report with anyone you choose. This is particularly useful when working with mechanics, sharing with family members for input, or showing documentation to sellers during negotiations. Inspection videos are posted as publicly accessible YouTube videos for ease of viewing/sharing.
What if you find serious problems?
We document everything, ranking issues by severity and urgency. If we discover serious problems, we'll explain clearly what we found, why it matters, and what it might mean for future repairs or safety. This information helps you make an informed decision about whether to proceed with the purchase or walk away.
How long can I access my inspection report?
Your inspection video and documentation remain available online through your shared link indefinitely. We recommend downloading and saving a copy of your written report for your records.
Can I use your findings to negotiate?
Absolutely. Our professional documentation is specifically designed to help with negotiations. The video evidence and detailed reports give you concrete information to support price negotiations or, if necessary, the decision to walk away from the purchase.
Do you make purchase recommendations?
No, we do not make buying recommendations. We strictly provide observable information and expert assessment based only on what we observe. The final decision about whether to purchase a vehicle is always yours to make.

Special Situations

What if I've already purchased the vehicle?
While our service is designed for pre-purchase decisions, we can still inspect recently purchased vehicles. However, remember that in Washington State there's no cooling-off period – once you've purchased a vehicle, you own it regardless of what an inspection might find. There is value in a post-purchase inspection though, especially for documenting the current condition and estimating future maintenance needs.
What if the vehicle is one I'm trying to sell?
We offer pre-sale inspections for sellers who want to build trust with potential buyers. Having professional documentation of your vehicle's condition can help attract serious buyers and support your asking price. See our For Sellers page for more details.
Can you inspect a car I'm buying sight-unseen?
Yes, we regularly help buyers who are purchasing vehicles from out of the area. Our detailed video documentation gives you a virtual walk-around and thorough understanding of the vehicle's condition without needing to be present.
How do you check for accident damage?
We look for several indicators of previous accidents or repairs including panel gap irregularities, paint inconsistencies or overspray, signs of structural repairs, evidence of replaced parts, and frame or unibody damage.
What makes your mobile service better than taking it to a shop?
Our mobile service is more convenient for everyone involved. There's no need to coordinate moving the vehicle or arrange transportation. We come to wherever the car is located, whether that's a dealer lot, private residence, or other location. This also lets us inspect the vehicle in its normal state, before it's been moved or possibly cleaned up for an inspection.
